Bachelor of Science (Hons) Agriculture

Introduction

B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture course was started from the academic session 2014-15. The Faculty of Agriculture has adopted the course content and guidelines as per the recommendation of the ICAR. The syllabus and guidelines of 4th Deans’ Committee were adopted initially from the academic year 2014-15 to 2016-17 and the Fifth Deans’ Committee recommendations have been followed from the academic session 2017-18. Furthermore, the Sixth Deans’ Committee recommendations have been implemented from the academic session 2024-25 for new batches while other batches followed the recommendations of 5th Dean’s committee report implementing the undergraduate syllabus with 20 percent regional resilience and are common throughout India.

The B. Sc. (Hons.) The department has a strong faculty, well equipped 13 laboratories, agronomic fields, and tractor and farm equipment as per ICAR norms. The department has all the required facilities of Poly-house, Vermi Compost unit for organic agriculture, drip and sprinkler irrigation system. It has units of medicinal and aromatic plants.

The focus is on quality, practical exposure and project based education in Agriculture. The focus of the curriculum for B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture remains on effective delivery of course curriculum as recommended by Fifth Deans’ Committee’s of ICAR, and adequate Practical and Hands-on-Training covering, Experiential learning, Skill Development Training, Rural Agricultural Work Experience, In Plant Industry Training and Students Projects as Student READY Programme.

Eligibility and Selection Process

  1. Programme Duration : B. Sc (Hons) Agriculture – Four Years U.G. Program
  2. Eligibility Criteria : The candidate must have completed 10+2 in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics)/ Agriculture with minimum 50 % aggregate.
  3. Selection Process : The admission is based on JET Exam conducted SAUs of Govt. of Rajasthan and ICAR- AIEEA exam.

Programme Highlights

Quality, practical & project based education. To provide an opportunity to students to develop self confidence in training and better understanding of practical problems faced in the field by the farmers socio-economic aspects of the villages more closely.
The program also includes a compulsory one semester of internship : Student READY program (Rural Entrepreneurship awareness development Yojana). Prepare students to face the challenges in the fields related to agriculture.
Industrial exposure through internship, Industrial visit and interaction with the experts in the field of agriculture. Course curriculum is very broad & inter disciplinary consist of courses in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Economics, Entomology, Genetics & Plant breeding , Soil Science, Food Technology, Animal Husbandry & Agricultural Engineering. Further, it is based on fifth Dean Committee of ICAR.

  • Industry Exposure and Practical Experience:
    1. Opportunities for hands-on learning, such as industry training or projects: B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture student has to undergo with 1 semester of READY program as per ICAR guidelines that includes following components RAWE/ Industrial Attachment /Experiential Learning / Hands-on Training/ Project Work / Internship.
